In this Appalachian-Gothic tragedy, a sinful doomsayer in a Christian-right backwater investigates a series of wildfires which he suspects have been started on purpose.

The people of Eldersville, PA have either gotten used to the Apocalypse or deny its existence, even as it washes over them like a God-sent pestilence. The bees are gone, it is a hundred and ten degrees in the shade, and the water company lords over the county with its blackhearted militia.
